Eco Committee
At Rendlesham Primary School we are committed to educate our pupils and community in how to look after our planet. We focus on litter picking, saving water and electricity, recycling and providing a safe haven for bugs.
We believe it is the responsibility of everyone (pupils and adults) in our school to be ‘Eco Friendly’. We encourage all pupils and staff to take responsibility to act and behave in a manner which is kind to our planet, for example pupils will regularly take on responsibility for litter picking when they notice rubbish in our playground, and this is part of the school routines and habits. In assemblies, links are made to looking after our planet from news stories around the world, for example when new initiatives are developed to support pollution in the seas, or how news stories impact communities, such as the felling of trees.
We encourage our pupils to be a part of the Rendlesham community and we participate in initiatives such as walking/biking to school, planting flowers in the village square and litter picks in the local parks. We are proud to work with companies, for example the ‘Biffa Bees’ project where we have planted fruit trees in our grounds and planted wild flowers to encourage the bees.
